In accordance with Article 7 of the New York State General Business Law  all security officers must be licensed and trained to obtain and/or maintain their certification.  Swoop 1, Inc. provides the state required training for prospective and current security officers.  Swoop 1, Inc uses local police officers as your instructors with over a combined 50 years of experience, not only as police officers but also as security officers, to provide the following training:

EIGHT (8) HOUR PRE-ASSIGNMENT COURSE:  The pre-assignment course is for those persons wishing to begin a career as licensed security officers.  This course is required prior to obtaining your license in New York State and starting your employment in the ever changing, fast paced, exciting field of security work.  This course provides instruction in the following areas:  legal powers and limitations, access control, role of the security officers, emergency situations, and ethics.  This course is intended to provide the student with a general overview of a security officer’s job and responsibilities in law enforcement.  There is a written examination that must be passed to successfully complete the training.  We offer the class weekdays, weeknights, and weekends.

Classes cost $50.00 per person.  Pre-registration is required.

SIXTEEN (16) HOUR ON-THE-JOB COURSE:  This course is for those guards already hired by a security company.  This course must be taken within ninety (90) days of beginning your employment.  This is a detailed training course in the duties and responsibilities of a security officer with a focus on report writing and documentation, terrorism, emergency situations, access control, incident command, and legal powers and limitations.  This course requires the passing of a written examination for successful completion of the course.  We offer the class weekdays, weeknights, and weekends.

Classes cost $100.00 per person.  Pre-registration is required.

EIGHT (8) HOUR ANNUAL IN-SERVICE COURSE:  This course is required prior to any licensing renewal, and must be completed within the calendar year after the completion of the 16 hour on the job training course.  The topics covered are access control, communications, legal powers and limitations, emergency situations, and updates in these topics.  We offer the class weekdays, weeknights, and weekends.

Classes cost $50.00 per person.  Pre-registration is required.
